A Personal Note From Me
10+ years ago, my husband Léon and I made a decision that completely changed the way we live.
We stepped away from the traditional 9-to-5 lifestyle and suddenly had far more control over how we spent our days.
It feels incredible, but having all the freedom in the world doesn’t automatically mean you know what to do with it. When you step away from a fixed schedule like that, the first thing you’re left with is an open agenda, and no one hands you a new rhythm to replace the old one.
That’s exactly what Léon and I had to figure out for ourselves, over and over again: how do you build routines that actually feel good, when nothing is structuring your days for you anymore?
The funny thing is, we didn’t set out to solve a “retirement” problem. It was only later, talking to retirees during our travels, that we realized we’d been wrestling with the same thing all along, just from a completely different starting point.
For decades, your work decided where and when you needed to be. Now in retirement, you can finally shape your week for yourself.
This workbook isn’t about telling you how retirement should look. It’s about helping you figure out what your week needs, then turning that into something you can actually try.
Because you waited a long time to have this much control over your days. You should get to enjoy them.
With love,
Kirsten
